He has the capacity to handle 40 connections for full download at over 33.6, limited by his computer, not the connection. Plus he's got a lot of space on his hard drive dedicated to MP3 songs, an archive of over 750 songs. These are his songs, not links off of many other sites. The pages themselves are also pretty awsome. I personally think its better than any of the current top sites you have listed, it isn't even possible to have a top download ftp list with out this one addition. |

I've already lost some of my favorites, and dont want to lose anymore. I have a DEC Alpha running Digital UNIX w/ 2 G's of space available. I already have a hub, so once I get an extra IP address I'll let you know the site. I currently have a Dell P166MMX with eight GIGS of space available for MP3's, but the ftpd server program for Windows 95 seems a little buggy.... is there an easier way to make an ftp server through my PC? I mostly have 80's pop and current pop hits, as well as classical. Just about everything the major artists have made (The Boss, Elton John, Duran^2, etc.). The PC has an IP address, but until I properly secure the disk and find comfortable server software, It'll have to wait for the Alpha to be set up. I look forward to using your search engine, and hope that you dont have too many 8-user only sites....it seems that's all that's out there, and they're ALWAYS FULL!!!! At 3am or 3pm, it doesn't matter.....anyhow, thanks for letting me use your site. :-Dan |

They defintely expose music lovers to more different types of music than you could ordinarily hear. Record companies execs are highly paranoid motherfuckers anyway and, of course, weasels (thank you David Letterman). The only way MP3's could ever lose a significant amount of money for the record industry is if every song of a new popular album (like say Aerosmith's new one) was suddenly available at 10 or 20 sites, and thousands of people down- loaded the entire new album for free. That would be wrong. But that's not the reality of MP3 sites. Almost all feature just a few songs by many different artists. I have been turned to many groups I ahd only previously heard ABOUT. And when I find these group's music on VINYL, I will buy it. I generally don't buy CD's - usually only compilations and box sets that are not available on vinyl. If the record companies were smart, for every new album, they would have one complete mp3 song from it on their own site. But requires forward thinking and intelligence - things in very short supply at major U.S. record labels. It's time for me to return the favor - I will be setting up my own web page soon. My ISP limits its size to 10 Meg - only good enough for 2 mp3's plus some other stuff.
